History of the square Senov\u00e1\u017en\u00e9 n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed goes back to the year 1348, when it was founded in a hamlet called Chudobice as the main square of Nov\u00e9 M\u011bsto (New town) where hay and cerea\u016fs were being sold. On the square, then a market, was also a hay scale, that\u2019s how the name was created (in Czech, hay = seno, scale = v\u00e1ha; Seno – v\u00e1\u017en\u00e9). The name of the square was changed multiple times over the years. From 1896 it was called Havl\u00ed\u010dek square, Soukup square, Maxim Goeth\u00e9 square and its original name returned no sooner than in 1990.<\/span><\/p>\n

The house on Senov\u00e1\u017en\u00e9 n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed, 981 was purchased by V\u00e1clav \u0160pott, a storeman who worked on the Fruit market, for 17 000 gold. The then house, owned by \u0160pott was called \u201cU Zlat\u00e9 V\u00e1hy\u201d (\u201cAt the Golden Scale\u201d). It had one floor, it was spacious, it had a large garden and there was free space around the house.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the house, 2 sons were born to V\u00e1clav \u0160pott, Karel (1811) and Jan (1813). Both of them were doctors, who were interested in natural therapy and hydrotherapy. Jan was an associate professor at orthopaedics and hydrotherapy at the Charles university and a pioneer of hydrotherapy. Karel founded a somewhat water spa in Pansk\u00e1 T\u00fdnice, where he worked as a district physician and he was also an expert at veterinary medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
